Android for iPhone 3G now Available

Posted by RD on Saturday, May 22, 2010 0 comments

Still remember the iPhone 3G dual-boot to Android video we posted about earlier in the month? Well, here’s some good news for those of you who have been aching to try this out on your iPhone.
http://kona.kontera.com/javascript/lib/imgs/grey_loader.gif
The Android port for the iPhone 3G is now available as a download though it’s still not ideal for regular use. Most of Android’s features are already up and running, but its power management http://kona.kontera.com/javascript/lib/imgs/grey_loader.giffeatures, however, aren’t enabled yet so it’ll only be good for roughly an hour of use before your iPhone 3G’s battery dies out on you. Jailbreaking, as most of you probably know by now, is required here

For your jailbreaking needs, you can try out either PwnageTool 3.1.5 from the iPhone Dev Team or geohot’s blackra1n. For some reason, this port doesn’t work with the new Spirit jailbreak. For instructions on how to install Android on your iPhone 3G, you can head on over here.
The download is available at the source below. So what’s next for this iPhone Hacker? Our guess is an Android port for the iPhone 3G S or the iPad, but whatever it is, rest assured, we’ll be here to report about it.

Does Apple iPhone Deserve 8th Place on List of World's 100 Greatest Inventions

Does Apple iPhone Deserve 8th Place on List of World's 100 Greatest Inventions

Here’s a Shocker, according to Tesco Mobile’s very recent list of the world’s 100 greatest inventions Apple’s iPhone is ranked in the top 10, 8th to be more precise. The iPod also made it into the list at number 56. Steve jobs must be throwing money into the air and dancing, if at all he’s even surprised that his ‘greatest’ creation features on a list of the world’s greatest things.

Now there’s no way one can argue that the iPhone isn’t truly a remarkable piece of hardware, but I’m not sure it should be that high on this list. I will concede that possibly, it should be there but just not this high.

Here’s what I’d like to know from you dear readers –
  • Do you think the iPhone deserves to be on this list firstly?
  • And Second, if you could replace it with another handset which one would it be?
Do share your thoughts and opinions on these questions via our comments section below. We’d love to hear what you think.

iPod touch with 2 megapixel camera leaked Is Real

Posted by RD on Thursday, May 20, 2010 0 comments

The rumours of the Apple iPod Touch getting a camera is nothing new to us. We have seen it way back last year even before the current line-up was announced . The iPod with camera showed up again this year on ebay.

Even then we were unsure about it’s legitimity until now.
The people from Vietnam who showcased the Apple iPhone HD/4G to us have got their hands on the next generation Apple iPod Touch.

This time the photos are in real good quality and clearly show the camera on the device. The device in the picture is clearly a prototype so the design maybe subject to changes in the final product.

The iPod Touch seems to have 64GB of internal memory ie using 2 32GB Samsung NAND chips. The camera used is a 2 megapixel one and unlike the iPhone, it is centrally placed instead of the left corner.

Mind-Blowing Device From Google

Posted by RD on Thursday, May 20, 2010 0 comments

Guess what you can do with a touch screen, camera, scanner, WiFi, and google maps ...

View a building through it, and it gives you all the information about that building....

Choose a building and touch a floor and it tells you more details of the building. You can use it when you want to know a car model, an insect name, what kind of food is served at a restaurant and how much, who built a bridge, etc. etc.

It’s got a scanner built in.

so you can use it this way when you want to check the meaning of a word in the newspaper, book, magazine, etc. It would be much easier to read a real book. You can use the dictionary, wikipedia, thesaurus and anything else available on the web. What do you think?

Indoor guide:Works in a building, airport, station, hospital, etc.

Automatic simultaneous translation: here Latin to English.

Search keyword: Helpful when you want to find out a word from a lot of text in newspaper/book.

Nutrition: This kind of function would be helpful for health freaks..

What Do you Think Is this a revolutionary product or not..??

HTC Wildfire coming on T-Mobile and 3 in UK

Posted by RD on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 0 comments

The biggest outstanding question about the Wildfire has now been answered by at least one carrier -- T-Mobile will be delivering HTC's student-friendly handset at the £20 ($29) per month price point on two-year contracts. Frankly, that's a bigger financial commitment than we'd expected to have to make, but it will presumably include unlimited (which in T-Mobile lingo means a 3GB fair use policy) data use and a healthy allowance of calls and texts. If that doesn't rub you up the right way, look out for Virgin Mobile to reveal its pricing in the near term, having announced it'll be carrying the phone via a tweet.

HTC Wildfire Specifications and Features
  • Android 2.1 OS
  • Quand Band GSM , Dual Band 3G
  • 3.2-inch capacitive touch screen
  • 5 megapixel camera with auto focus and LED flash
  • 3.5mm audio jack
  • micro SD card slot
  • HTC Sense UI
  • Friend Stream Social Networking Application
  • Wi-Fi
  • GPS
  • Bluetooth
  • 528MHZ Qualcomm Processor
  • Optical Trackpad
  • 384MB RAM
  • 512MB ROM
  • FM Radio
  • 1300 mAh battery
  • Talktime : 7 hours
  • Standby : 480 hours
  • Smartphone

Nicola Shenton, head of Handset and Device Marketing at T-Mobile UK said: “The HTC Wildfire is a great addition to our Android portfolio, offering customers an affordable way to get their hands on an Android-based smartphone. The HTC Wildfire is perfect for those who love social networking, and with App Sharing its even easier for customers to share their favourite apps with their friends, so they can have even more fun with Android marketplace.”

iWatch - Apple Concept Hours

Posted by RD on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 0 comments

This iWatch concept is designed to pair up with your iPhone, sharing information and allowing you to see all sorts of information without pulling your phone out of your pocket. And it's pretty damned slick.

The watch, which would connect to your phone via Bluetooth, would have 16GB of internal storage and would allow you to do things like answer calls via it, display RSS feeds, show you the weather or let you flip through photos. There's also a built-in pico projector for letting you show videos on a nearby wall.

All in all, it's a pretty cool concept, but don't look for it to become a real product anytime soon.
