Posted by RD on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 0 comments

It is rightly said that anything with Apple’s logo on it turns to gold since even the latest Apple iPad which was launched less than a month ago has crossed 1 million units in terms of sales.

Chitika Labs say that Apple have sold over 1 million iPads not to mention over 32000 iPads sold today itself so far. This is just an estimate and not actual numbers.

The actual numbers could even be higher since these numbers are taken from the iPads accessing Chitika Labs’s advertisements. But there is also the other possibility since the iPad users may have different IP addresses while on the move. But even then the number is likely to be very high.

Nokia C2 Leaked

Posted by RD on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 0 comments

A new Nokia handset called the Nokia C2 has been leaked on an Italian website.  The main features include a 2 Megapixel Camera 240×320 pixels display and a unique rotation feature as seen in this photograph which seems to be taken during a product presentation.

Features include a unique QWERTY keyboard design similar to the 6820 and E70 of yester years

Also we see a Video Calling Camera in the front which means that this phone might actually support 3G too.
And we are hearing reports that Nokia is working on  new C-series handset priced below the C3 .

So according to the new naming conventions adopted by Nokia, the C2 might sit at the price point below the C3. If these rumors are correct Nokia might be all set to regain supremacy in the entry level segment.

And this is what our Sandeep has to say about the the C2, After the E70, the form-factor just seemed to have disappeared. It maybe due to more demand for candybarcandybar QWERTY phones like the Blackberry etc.

But now Nokia seems to be bringing back the retro styleretro style in this full QWERTY phone but with a twist. It is a twist phone that unveils the QWERTY keyboard. This phone in the leaked picture is apparently the Nokia C2 which would be the little brother to the recently announced C3, C5 and C6.

The phone must be realbe real because the specs sheet is similar to the one which leaked other phones such as the C-SeriesC-Series, N8 etc

Adobe to Stop Developing iPhone Apps

Adobe to Stop Developing iPhone Apps

Adobe is reportedly stopping the development of Apple iPhoneAndroid platform. based applications and focusing more on the applications for the

Adobe will still ship their iPhone Creative Suite 5 with which developers will be able to build flash based applications and convert them to iPhone applications.
But after Apple changed the language of its developer license agreement to prohibit the use of outside development tools, Adobe won’t be investing anymore in that software.
If Apple’s cross-platform ban is enforced, it will affect many applications built using tools such as Unity, Flash CS5, MonoTouch etc.
Some curse Apple for not supporting technologies that would allow applications to be built across various platforms.
This is an ongoing battle between Apple and Adobe. Analysts and observers believe Apple’s ban on intermediary translation or layer tools helps Apple maintain an edge over rival smart phone platforms by encouraging developers to write specifically for the iPhone. But it also helps lead to higher-quality apps, according to an e-mail Steve Jobs recently wrote to a developer.

Android 2.2 (Froyo) to support automatic application updates

Posted by RD on Monday, April 26, 2010 0 comments

Froyo, the next version of the Android OS, is already in the testing and chances are it will be seeded to end-users in a few months time. And as it turns out this might very well be a thing to look forward to, as it will bring some new features. The first one we're hearing of is automatic application updates.

Unlike Android 2.1, which brought extended API support, but little in terms of new features, Android 2.2 (a.k.a. Froyo) will at least have one key new feature. Users that have a large number of preinstalled apps will certainly appreciate the fact that they will be able to automatically update themselves, instead of being updated manually.

Each app will prompt you to enable automatic updates when you install it, so you can forbid some of them to do so. There are suspicions that developers will make use of the newly added feature to turn completely free apps into ad supported ones but we doubt that will become a wide-spread practice.

RIM announces BlackBerry Bold 9650 and Pearl 3G, sort of

Posted by RD on Monday, April 26, 2010 0 comments

Two new BlackBerry smartphones are coming right next month. The candybar duo Bold 9650 and Pearl 3G leaves the old-fashioned trackball in favor of the fancy trackpad.

BlackBerry Bold 9650 and Pearl 3G share common specs - hi-res screen, 3.2 megapixel camera, microSD card slot and the full connectivity package - Wi-Fi, GPS, 3G and Bluetooth.

BlackBerry Bold 9650 and Pearl 3G

The Pearl 3G supports the latest Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n standard, while the Bold 9650 relies on the previous b/g one. Still, the new Bold will be released in both GSM and CDMA versions, but the Pearl 3G won't be available for the CDMA users.

BlackBerry Bold 9650 (in CDMA obviously) will be available from Sprint USA starting next month. The Pearl 3G will hit Canada through Bell, TELUS and Rogers most probably the same time. Other market availability and pricing are yet to be announced.

As of now, RIM still don't have any official press info on both devices. Looking forward to it, we hope it's not some leak.

Nokia 5800 Buzz: Vopium Voip Service offers 30 mins of free call time and 30 free SMS as a Signup package

Vopium is a voip service for Nokia 5800 and currently they are running a promotional offer wherein you get 30 mins of free international call time and 30 free international SMS. This is offered to you as a signup package. The reason i liked Vopium is because of a full fledged Vopium application supporting Nokia 5800. The voice quality happens to be really good when compared to other Voip services which i have used on my phone. Moreover, the calling rates they are providing is impressive for all the international destinations.

The Vopium S60 application allows you to make international calls and send SMS. It also features a complete IM feature allowing you to use services like GTalk, Skype, Yahoo, MSN, AIM,ICQ and Twitter. You can check your account balance and also top up anytime right on your Nokia 5800. You can even synchronize your calendar and contacts. You can transfer your balance to another Vopium user anytime right from your mobile phone using the Vopium application. To send free messages, you actually need to login to the Vopium website as you do not get the option in the application.

You can view your complete history of the calls and messages on the Vopium website. You need to register for an account on the Vopium website before you actually use the application. As soon as you signup for an account, Vopium sends the login credentials on your mobile phone number which can then be set in the applications and use the free credit. Remember, the balance will always show you 0.00$ as the balance but you can check your account details on the website for free credits.
