Facts About Nokia N8 Camera at Photokina 2010

Dr. Hubert Nasse of Carl Zeiss talks about the Tessar lens, included in the new Nokia N8 smartphone. This movie was captured and edited with the Nokia N8, during the photokina 2010 in Cologne.

Here’s a transcript from the video:

Let me tell you some amazing facts about the camera module in the new Nokia N8 mobile phone. In the volume of a small sugar cube, it contains not only a 12 megapixel sensor but also a very fine Carl Zeiss lens made out of 5 single optical elements, all with aspherical surfaces, hardly[?] very complex shape as we have never seen in large scale optics. This guarantees in excellent image quality. In fact, the resolution of this tiny machine is about 3 times higher than that of a grown up SLR lens. One of the best things for daily life is certainly that it will even survive if you drop it to the ground. This might be the most important feature of the machine.
