Why tracking your iOS is and how to stop it

You've heard by now for the detailed register, iOS device to keep your movements. Now there's a tool for prevention, plus some more clarity on the matter, which, as he is neither new nor unique.

iOS has proposed location services from the outset-you know, pinpointing your location using cell ID and Wi-Fi hotspots. Early devices used Google and Skyhook database to do this, but after the iOS 3.2 Apple was developing its own database-why Apple must collect such statistics. The data are annonimized and sent over an encrypted channel.

The real problem is that it maintains an unencrypted file contains your iGadgets record of all your movements from the prior year and this file is copied to each computer you've synced to and archives, which may have made.

Every access to the file (called consolidated. db), or by hacking the device that contains a copy of the file, or simply stealing your easy to retrieve a log of your movements during the last year.

It appears, however, that the actions to register the location of iGadgets (iPhones and iPads on 3 G) have been found as yet last year and weren t really secret, just without any prominent warnings (it's in the terms and conditions, which most people have probably never read). Also, older versions of iOS (v4) keep such records and elsewhere.

You can read a post by Alex Levinson, (one of the people who initially, which is not a problem) for more information about how and why not, what does the iOS.

For those who immediately put their tinfoil hats, there s the app to delete the directory and to iOS from having one. IT s the app called Untrackerd, which can be installed from Cydia to jailbroken iGadget software store.
